EAST PEORIA - Sherry A. Jacobs, 54, of East Peoria died at 8:13 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on May 23, 1958, in Peoria to Donald C. and Virginia A. (Ford) Verkler. She married Paul Jacobs on April 21, 1979, in Peoria.
Surviving are her husband, Paul of East Peoria; daughters, Joanne (Marcus) Whitted of Bloomington, Michelle and Suzanne Jacobs of East Peoria; and her mother, Virginia Verkler of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Douglas Verkler.
Sherry was a loving mother, faithful daughter and devoted wife. She was passionate about home schooling and creating close family bonds. One of her deepest desires was that her three daughters would love each other and love Jesus, which she accomplished.
She loved spending time at home with her family and enjoyed finding quality movies, books, destinations and activities to share with those she loved. Sherry was very close to her parents, especially after the passing of her brother, who was her only sibling. She also shared with her daughters a love for the Christian band Newsboys.
She was a devoted wife, sharing 33 years with her husband, Paul, and loved cooking and hospitality with family and friends. Sherry had a sweet spirit and would do anything she could to help those around her. She was a friend for life if you would let her be and in her mind she never had enough time to spend with her family.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. The Rev. Kerry Frantz will officiate. The visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church and interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens following the service.
Memorials may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church.

My heart goes out to Paul Jacobs, Joanne Whitted, Michelle & Suzanne Jacobs & also to Sherry's Mom. May you find comfort in her everlasting life in heaven & your wonderful memories of her. I know we will all see her again. Sherry was my best friend in high school & college. I will miss her more than words can express. I was blessed to have known her. She was quiet until you got to know her, never had a bad thing to say about anyone, & made the best homemade granola. We used to go to each other houses & would always walk each other half way home to Sterling & Newman Parkway. She will forever live in my heart, so many good memories with her. Sherry, your light will forever shine.

I haven't worked with Sherry for many years, but was shocked to hear of her passing. I remember her as a hard worker, and a very quiet, but very nice, person once you got to know her. I'm so saddened by your loss ...
