Terry Craig Obituary

Terry W. Craig
METAMORA - Terry W. Craig, 67, of Metamora, IL, passed away at home on Saturday, June 23, 2018, after suffering from pancreatic cancer for a short period of time.
He was born on December 8, 1950, in Peoria, IL, to Clovis C. "Chuck" and Catherine "Katy" (Hale) Craig. He married Monica Crider-Jones in 1976 and they have two sons. She survives. In 2013 he married his true love, Marcie Chamberlain.
Surviving are his wife, Marcie of Metamora; sons, Tyler Craig and Britt Craig, both of East Peoria; grandson, Gavin Craig; step-children, Dawn Orren, Kelly (Chuck) Elwell and Todd (Jade) Smith; and nine step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna.
Terry attended Washington Community High School. In 1970, at the age of 19, Terry was drafted into the Army and served in Viet Nam from 1970-1971 with the First Calvary Infantry, where he was wounded twice and was a Purple Heart recipient. In 1972, after returning from serving his country, he worked for Caterpillar for 30 years, retiring in 2002. During his years at Caterpillar, he was a very dedicated member of the Local UAW 974 and was a union steward for over 27 years.
Terry liked to stay busy and was very handy with fixing things and he loved helping others. He was an avid Harley enthusiast, and if it said Harley on it, he had to have it. His other love was riding his Harley 2003 Road King Anniversary model. He was a member of the NRA and had been an avid gun collector for many years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Private family interment of ashes will be held following the visitation at Spring Bay Cemetery, with military rites accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the education fund for his grandson, Gavin, at CEFCU.

Dear Marcie, I am so sorry to hear about Terry. Really nice to hear you and Terry became one. I know it wasn't long enough but something you finally you will always cherish. I've known Terry many years. Sometimes I would run into at Kroger's and he would always have that big smile. I pray you are doing well. I seen it took him fast. Cancer is heartless. Take care and tell your family I said hello. Love you Marcie. Sharon Hinton

R.I.H Uncle Terry. I'll never forget your voice and laugh.

My memories could fill a book. We grew up together and you along with David Wayne would instantly become my best friends when our families got together during our parents vacations.

I've been reflecting on our time together in childhood, adolescence, and even remembering our overlapping tours in Vietnam when we wrote to each other. We confided our deepest secrets and greatest desires as well as shared so many special adventures all while growing into men.

One of my greatest joys in life will always be the wonderful memories we shared.

Terry was a likable, helpful person to work with. Myself and other co-workers remember with fondness his humor. Truly a genuine, honest person. He will be greatly missed.
