HENRY - Florence Velma Riddle, 89, of Henry, and formerly of Magnolia and East Peoria, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at 8:10 a.m. at Heartland Health Care Center in Henry.
Velma was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Peoria, Ill., to William Harold and Esther Louise (Schuchmeilski) Crotts.
She married Robert Eugene Riddle on Nov. 17, 1945, at the Magnolia Community (Methodist) Church in Burbank, Calif. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Bill E. (Sherry) Riddle of Sycamore, Ill., and Bob L. (Nancy) Riddle of East Peoria; one daughter, Janice L. (Steve) Ringenberg of Magnolia; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Her parents; one infant son, Douglas Harold Riddle; and one brother, Le Roy Crotts, preceded her in death.
Velma was educated at Manual Training High School in Peoria.
Velma is a former member of the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria and a member of the Magnolia United Methodist Church.
She was a former salesperson for Stanley Home Products.
She volunteered at Proctor Community Hospital in Peoria and St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon.
She was a former member of the East Peoria Woman's Club, the Tazewell County Home Extension and the Good Sam's Camping Club.
Visitation will be Friday, July 19, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, "Downtown Chapel" 416 Edward St. in Henry. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 154 E. Washington St. in East Peoria, with an hour prior visitation at the church. The Rev. Mary Arnold will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Health Care Center in Henry or to the charity of the donors' choice.
