PEORIA - It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Michael, on Dec. 28, 2020, in Gold Canyon, Arizona.
Michael was born in Peoria, Illinois and is survived by his mother Tammy Sue Sunderland; father Walter Deemie (Darla); sister Tara Harman (Jon) and Brianna Deemie (Josh Jenkins); and grandmothers Lois Sunderland (Wayne Walworth) and Leona Deemie (Troy Phillips).
After graduation from Stark County High School, Michael pursued his career in the family business, River City Demolition. Beginning as a laborer in the brick plant, he worked his way up to a heavy equipment operator.
Michael's last year was spent in Arizona with his Mother. During this year, he rebuilt his health regimen with regular fitness workouts and hiking. He was also able to enjoy his favorite hobby – golf. He played the challenging Arizona links whenever he could.
Michael was a compassionate and loving man. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. His deep Christian faith was one of his strengths. He often led scripture reading to his ailing Grandmother in Gold Canyon.
Michael was kind hearted and loved people. He had a special bond with his sisters Tara and Brianna. He was like a big brother to his uncle Justin (Jugg) Deemie. Jennifer Kendall was his baby sitter and lifelong friend. His friend J-Bird appreciated Michael's friendship: "It amazes me how people can carry the weight of other people's burdens and sorrow without knowing they are. That's the selfless love of a true friend. Thx for being one, Mike".
The last words in Michael's journal were "What are the three most beautiful words in any language? Mother, Home and Heaven."
