Walter Klausing Obituary
PEORIA - Walter C. Klausing of Peoria passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, April 14, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 31, 1954, in Fort Wayne, Ind., son of Walter E. and Evelyn J. Hunter Klausing. He married Geraldine Flatt and later divorced.
Surviving are one son, Joshua Klausing, fiancee Valerie Duncan and her sons, Chris and Matt of Peoria; and two sisters, Teresa (Mike) Schwab of Peoria and Judith Scurrah of Florida. Also surviving are nephews, Charles (Shannon) Klausing of Peoria, Michael (Iisha) Klausing of Marquette Heights, Jason Meier, Matt (Melissa) Meier, Brian (Amanda) Meier and nieces, Christina (Kyle) Johnston-McCormack and Margaret Schwab, all of Peoria. Also left to treasure his memory are dear friends, Ron Hermann and Royal Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John.
Walt was the district manager at Royal Publishing, where he worked for 24 years.
He enjoyed playing pool and softball and won many city softball championships.
Walt enjoyed spending time with family and friends and lived life to the fullest. He was a mentor and friend to many and will be missed by all.
Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Service.
