EAST PEORIA - Wanda J. Uphoff, 78, of East Peoria died at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 25, 1940, in Ballard County, KY, to Hubert and Hattie (Morrison) Matlock. She married Wendell R. Uphoff on November 6, 2004, in Ft. Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2017.
Wanda is survived by 2 daughters, Sheila K. White and Shelly Lynn, both of Peoria; 3 sons, James Kelly Lynn of Peoria, Brian K. (Sheri) Lynn of Danvers and Terry D. (Joyce) Lynn of Trivoli; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Linda (William) Lynn of Plant City, FL, Brenda (Ron) Durbin of Fortville, IN, and Joyce Ibbatson of Columbus, GA; and 2 brothers, Ted (Vanessa) Matlock of Paducah, KY, and Jack (Willie) Matlock of East Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; 2 brothers, Hubert Matlock Jr. and William Matlock; 4 sisters, Mary Ball, Betty Sue, Ina Kiser and Patsy Thompson; 1 daughter-in-law, Hillary Lynn; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Wanda graduated Ballard Memorial High School in 1958. She then graduated cosmetology school. Finally, she worked as an assembler in Mossville, retiring in 2000. Wanda was a member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of Mokanna.
Visitation will be Monday, December 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., with The Daughters of Mokanna service at 6:45 p.m., at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 444 E. Washington St., East Peoria. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery. Pastor Steve Hardin will officiate.
