PEORIA - William H. Tuft, 75, of 5536 North Fairmont Drive, Peoria, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Easton, Pa., a son of Benjamin and Betty (Reibman) Tuft. He married Wanda Bernhardt on Sept. 15, 1956, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Timothy N. Tuft of Peoria, Jon E. (Barbara) Tuft of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Kevin I. Tuft of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Mary Ann Tuft of Chicago; and one brother, Thomas Tuft of New York, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Carole.
William was a life/health insurance agent for 48 years and had opened offices in Peoria, Chicago and the World Trade Center in New York City. He was a former sports writer for the Peoria Journal Star while attending Bradley University.
He served his country in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Paris and Germany.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a 40-plus year member of the Insurance Industry Million Dollar Round Table.
Visitation for Mr. Tuft will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 Northeast Randolph Ave., Peoria, IL 61605, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Pastor James Betterman is officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Peoria.
Funeral arrangements are through Richard S. Wilton, funeral director through Cumerford-Endsley-Diggle Funeral Home, 428 W. McClure Ave., Peoria, IL 61604.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hillside Village.
