Duane Arden Wagner, 91, of North Manchester, Indiana, died Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at The Waters of Wabash East. He was born on May 5, 1934, in Bippus, Indiana, to Hobart and Thelma (Yoder) Wagner.
Duane was a 1952 graduate of Urbana High School. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and was stationed in Japan for two years having served four years. He married Esther Ruth Anderson in the Deshler Church of the Brethren in Deshler, Ohio on August 10, 1958; she preceded him in death on June 13, 2020. He was a lifelong farmer in Wabash County with a passion for dairy farming, he also worked at Daywalt Pharmacy, in Wabash. Duane was a member of the Urbana Yoke Parish. He was a talented woodworker, building his own home, and also fine furniture, which he gave away. Duane enjoyed fishing, particularly his fishing trips to Canada. He was also a private pilot, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by three children, Mark Wagner of North Manchester, Dawn (Aaron) Mattern of Wabash, and Beth Bell of Wabash, and grandson, Eli Mattern of Wabash. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dorlan Wagner and Hobart Wagner, Jr., and four sisters, Lois Haupert, Reva Lee, Darl Wilcox, and Eileen Harvey.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Chris Brock officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
