Janice D. Kling, 89, Peru, passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at her residence.
Born July 6, 1932, in Peru, Indiana, she was the daughter of Gerald Byron and Ruth Beatrice (Stofer) Howell. On Jan. 21, 1953, she was married to Donald Alan Kling, who survives.
She was a lifelong member of the Mexico Church of the Brethren, where she served in various committee positions. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1950 and retired from Peru Trust/Norwest Bank in Mexico. She was a member of the Jefferson Township Home Economics Club and enjoyed boating, camping, gardening, going to auctions, and collecting cut glass and diamonds. She loved candlelight dinners and all the details going into organizing and decorating for the perfect Christmas-loving every gift (except one) that she ever opened.
In addition to her husband, Donald Kling, Peru, she is survived by her children, Bob and Coleen (Hudson) Kling, Peru; Peggy Bough, Nappanee; and Lee Ann Fouts (Kevin Musselman), Mexico; grandchildren, Andrea (Brad) Aquino, Colorado; Robert (Jenny) Kling, Peru; Katie (Derek) Hagan, Sheridan; Emily (Garrett) Hite, Kokomo; Casey (Jonathon) Bowles, French Lick; Michael Bough (Shelby Carroll), South Bend; Brandon (Lacie) Fouts, Winona Lake; Lucas (Whitney) Fouts, Wakarusa; and Kyle (Samantha) Fouts, Kokomo; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Cyrus (Pat) Howell, Peru.
She was preceded in death by her parents, twin siblings, Byron Howell and Beatrice Snavely, and son-in-law, Jim Fouts.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at the Mexico Church of the Brethren with Pastor Matt Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
Visitation will be from noon-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mexico Church of the Brethren or Greenlawn Cemetery Association.
