R Diane Geddis (née Tyner), age 75, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in San Diego, California. Born on November 1, 1949, in Peru, Indiana, and raised in Wabash, Indiana, she lived a life marked by resilience and love.
Diane was a woman of remarkable strength and enduring spirit. Despite facing many hardships – from a difficult childhood to overcoming multiple battles with cancer in adulthood – she persevered, emerging with empathy and love in her heart.
Throughout her life, Diane found joy behind the wheel. This passion led to a career as a professional driver and chauffeur, operating everything from school buses and stretch limousines to sedans, large passenger vans, and shuttles. Whether navigating city streets or country roads, she loved exploring every mile.
Outside of work, Diane cherished time with family. She delighted in playing games and sharing laughter around the table. Her warmth extended beyond home; she was the kind of person who would go out of her way at a restaurant to make sure the server knew they had done a great job – a small gesture that reflected her generous heart and appreciation for others.
For most of her life, she was a Mom, and she would tell everyone that her children were the center of her world and the source of her greatest pride. She was the best mom, selflessly giving and fiercely protective.
Diane is survived by her beloved children: Leslie Simms, Nathan Johnson (Kristen Petrilli), J. Daniel Geddis (Brian Hess), and Nicholas Geddis (Hilary Geddis); her husband, Joseph C. Geddis; as well as five cherished grandchildren: Julia, Ava, Eli, Rohan, and Jamin.
She is also survived by her brothers Terry Tyner and Dane Tyner, and half-brother Arlis Tyner. She was preceded in death by her mother Sarah Gladys Tyner; half-sister Myrna Pinnell; and half-brothers Burel Tyner, Larry Tyner, and Billy Tyner.
Diane will be remembered as strong-willed yet tender-hearted. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched through kindness both grand and small.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held in San Diego, CA on Sunday, July 20, 2025. At a future date, her family plans to inter a portion of Diane's cremains beside her mother in Wabash, at Falls Cemetery.
