Robert C. "Bob" Plunkett, 92, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 5:15 pm, Wednesday, November 12, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. He was born on October 6, 1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Paul and Blanche (Rife) Plunkett.
Bob was a 1952 graduate of Freedom High School in Spencer, Indiana. He honorably served in the United States Air Force, being discharged in 1958. After graduating from Purdue University, Bob married Towanna Jean Cassity on June 12, 1965; she preceded him in death on January 29, 2018, after 52 years of marriage. Starting in January 1967, Bob taught Agriculture in Elwood two years, then became the Assistant Director at Upper Wabash Vocational School, now known as Heartland Career Center, where he helped consolidate the vocational program into one building, and remained there nearly 30 years before he retired. Bob was a Sagamore of the Wabash recepient, and a member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association. After his retirement, he worked for another 20 years at Ivy Tech. Bob was a member of Wabash Christian Church for over 50 years, where he taught Sunday School and served as Elder. He enjoyed taking photographs and loved to travel.
He is survived by two daughters, Anne (Tim Kneller) Plunkett and Lynne (Tim) Keffaber, both of Wabash, and half sister, Shirley (Charles) O'Bradley of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; half brother, Donald Plunkett, and half sister, Carol Mitchell.
There will be a private graveside service at Memorial Lawns Cemetery.
Preferred memorial is Wabash Christian Church.
