Donald James Mulvaney Sr., 80, of Pocono Summit died Saturday, at St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home, Elmhurst. He was the loving husband of Catherine (Look) Mulvaney, at home, to whom he had been married for more than 54 years.
He was born in Flushing, Queens, N.Y., on Jan. 23, 1925, the son of the late James J. and Florence (Goggin) Mulvaney.
He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church of Pocono Pines for more than 17½ Years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4159, of Tobyhanna, and was a Fourth Degree Knight with Assembly 981, Mount Pocono.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
Donald was a 1950 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for 36 years as a cameraman for the National Broadcasting Company, during which time he was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards and won eight times.
In addition to his wife, he was the devoted father of Maureen Stamm and husband Peter Sr., Eileen Helin and husband, Eric, Donald Jr. and wife Evelyn, Kevin and wife Brigid, Michael Patrick, Colleen and husband, Thomas Sr.; and loving grandpa of Jordan, Matthew, Peter Jr., Ryan, Catherine, Megan, Thomas Jr., Allison and Faith.
He was predeceased by his daughter Cathleen and his sister Joan.
He is also survived by his loving sister Florence Mulvaney of Montauk, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pocono Pines with the Rev. John B. Boyle as celebrant.
A wake will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, with the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard present, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Pocono Pines.
Cremation will follow the Mass. Interment of his cremated remains will be private and at the convenience of the family in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Sullivan Road, PO Box 0, Pocono Pines, PA 18350.
