I never met Mr. Frazetta, but he has been an influence since Jr High when I saw a simple pen sketch of a girl on a horse, that blew my mind! It opened me up to a whole new world of art and FANTASTIC VISUALS that were like sweet sweet CANDY to my eyes and mind! Thank you Frazetta for sharing your visions and your ideas with the world! YOU ARE GREATLY MISSED, BUT YOUR LEGACY LIVES ON THROUGH YOUR AMAZING FAMILY!

Death of a God -Tribute to Frazetta

I never had the honor of meeting Mr Frazetta, but I was crushed when I heard the news. He was the most influential and inspirational person in my life for the past 33 years. He changed the course of my life being my mentor, as he was to so many others, and gave my art purpose and direction when it had none. In a way he was a father figure for me, even if only through his incredible talent. But not only through his art, but also through interviews and opinions of others who did know him, one got to know him if even in the smallest of ways and I learned he was also a wonderful and humble man. I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. He will always remain a very huge part of me. As a tribute I did a piece in his honor. To the Master, Frank Fraetta. We love you, and thank you.

I have been a fan since the very first time I saw one of his painting, long before I ever knew who Frank Frazetta was. I like many others was deeply impressed by his works and at times I tried to copy his style and creativity. The world has lost a great artist as well as a great man, the likes of whom are few and far between.
To the family and friends who are saddened by Frank's passing, it is comforting to know that Almighty God also has fond memories of Frank Frazetta and He has stored them away for safe keeping. God has made us a promise through His son Jesus Christ, a hope of something better than what we suffer through in this old world and that is the hope of life-everlasting.
(Luke 23:43)
At the time when God fulfills His promise, never again will mankind ever suffer from the pains of sickness and death. (Rev. 21:4)
Take comfort in knowing that God cannot lie all that He purposes will come true. At the same time God offers hope and comfort to those left behind.
(Psalms 55:22)

Frank, Bill, Holly and Heidi and your families, there are no words in existence that I can conjure up to ease the pain I know you are all feeling now. You do however have a lifetime of the love that both your parents showered on you and in that they are never really gone, love simply does not die.
My own father passed away when I was 12 and it was your Dad that was somewhat of a surrogate father as I grew. It was his influence that shaped my life and career.
The most perfect day of my 51 years was the afternoon I got to spend with your Dad in 1995 (A year a half before with your Mom the entire day at the first Museum in East Stroudsburg...she couldn't get rid of me!) He treated me as a fellow illustrator as opposed to an adoring fan. He was giddy when he found out your Mom wouldn't be coming by the museum and he could show me the "Reign of Wizardry"... I felt like we were two kids dong something we knew we weren't supposed to be doing!
Those few hours have filled my life, I cannot even fathom how rich the rest of your days will be will all the love and all the memories that you will carry on with...and in that death has no dominion.
You have the deepest of my sympathy.

I read everything I could get my hands on that had your fathers covers. Lancer, Ace, Creepy, Erie you name it. And with that, my reading skills became so good I became a successful self taught TV and film engineer earning six figures. I really owe it to your dad for inspiring me to read. God bless,

My boyfriend in college, who was also an artist, loved Frank Frazetta, and modeled some of his pen and ink drawings after Frank's style. I became a fan, too. Years ago, I visited the museum and met Ellie, who seemed very nice and even showed an interest in seeing my boyfriend's artwork. It's not often that one becomes a legend in his own time, but Frank Frazetta did it. It is a big loss to the art world, but we will remember him through his great works. Condolences to all his loved ones.

My first exposure to Franks work was seeing the british reprints of the Conan stories by Sphere books.
Long before i ever read the contents,i carried around copies of 'Conan The Adventurer'' and ''Conan''as if they were icons;talismans that conveyed strength, self determination and the sheer beauty of such a fertile and unique imagination.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr frazetta but i feel like i have lost my own father of the imagination and the spirit of creativity-i am ALWAYS thrilled when ever i see even a doodle he has made,or a rough for a painting or illustration and are unseen continants of the imagination-Frank on his worst day is better than so many other artists on their best.
My hope is that he will be recognized as the Great draughtsman he is and for his ability to get what was in his head, through his hands and onto paper or canvas-it is no stretch nor is it pretensious to compare him to ANY 20th century great master in sheer terms of his creativity and influence.
Berni Wrightson summed it up in a fan drawing he made as a young gun starting out.... ''FRANK FRAZETTA FOREVER....!'

May 12, 2010
My Husband Clayton, mother Marguerite, and I had the pleasure of meeting Frank Frazetta last year in July. Unfortunately Elle had passed the day before our visit. We came to visit the museum. Frank Frazetta is my husband’s inspiration for his artwork and has respected him as one of the great artists ever. We had seen the note on the museum door that Elle had passed and we met another couple that came from Florida who also came to visit the museum. Frank had overheard us talking and came out of the house to talk to us. We extended our deepest sympathy of the passing of Elle.
He was apologetic that we came all that way and it was closed. He went inside the house and came out with the keys to the museum, but only had the key to the outside gate. We had thanked him and were ready to leave but, he invited us into his house to sit and visit him in his art studio. He said he has some artwork and hoped that would.
Clayton was so amazed how down to earth he was and we had visited for about an hour. Clayton was able to ask questions he always wanted to ask about his art. That was the best gift for us to meet him and share some time with him.
We will always cherish the time we were able to be with him, we will always hold a special place in our heart for him and will be missed greatly.
We extend our deepest sympathy to the Frazetta family, even though he has passed away his legacy will always be here forever.

I knew Frank in the late 70's as a photographer who came into the camera shop where I worked with his Nikon. We would talk about photography for hours and he taught me much about the craft. It wasn't until years later that I found out what an incredibly talented artist he was. My sympathy goes out to the entire family for your loss.

My condolences to the Frazetta family.
I hope you find some comfort in fact that your father left a legacy that is going to live forever along with Da Vinci, Rockwell, and every other artist that defined an era. And therefore generations of artists to follow. Rest in Peace Frank and Thank You for sharing your gift with the world through eternity

Ernest Hemingway was a man's man.
Spencer Tracy was an actor's actor.
Frank Frazetta was an artist's artist.
He has been an inspiration to two generations of artists and I'm sure that the numbers of generations will continue to grow as the years go by.
Personally, as a fan, there was nothing better than a magazine or paperback cover rendered by Frank Frazetta. Bright and bold, fluid and dramatic, they were full of life and energy. And they always will be.
Thank you, Frank!

I would first offer my condolences to the family on the loss of their father. Frank Frazetta was a great and inspirational artist who never lost the 'human' touch.
I will say that for me he brought to life the science fiction & fantasy genre and gave old classics such as Edgar Rice Burroughs a new lease on life. Were it not for Mr. Frazetta's cover work I would have probably not have picked up these titles.
A few years back I was able to convey my thanks and thoughts to him by email via his website. His son responded with thanks and then to my surprise Frank himself responded. It was a short and nice response, something I never expected given his health at the time. I wished I had printed it off, as my last machine crashed and lost it. But I will always remember that email, and as I stated earlier Mr. Frazetta had that human touch.
He will be missed.

My condolences to family and friends. I await the site to be made available once again so I can add more prints to the ones I already have. Would also like to leave you with a memory. Years ago I visited the art gallery when it was above the costume store. The only one present was Ellie and one look at her immediately prompted me to ask her if she was the inspiration behind some of the artwork. I will never forget, she simply and gracefully smiled, as if to say, I?ll let you decide?. That memory has stayed with me. Thank you both.

Frank Frazetta... WOW, AWESOME - Those were always among the words that quickly would come to my mind, whenever his name was mentioned. I was 11 years old when I first saw his work on the covers of my beloved Conan paperbacks. After that, as a young artist, I would imitate his style - big breasted, exotic women, wild monsters, and those men that a girl could only find in her dreams.
Frazetta will always be a true Legend and Hero in my eyes.
With Love and Respect,
Joe Crawford

Frankie, Billy, Holly and Heidi,
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and your families at this very sad time. I have fond memories of your Dad out by the pond, hitting golf balls, waiting to the last possible minute to finish a drawing someone needed, his studio, his cameras & the old poster room off the kitchen where your Mom, Dad, Uncle Bob & Aunt Helen would have their coffee. I clearly remember the love & pride he had for all of you. He was one of the most down to earth people I have ever met he was blessed with numerous talents. His art touched many lives. Above all his fame he was a wonderful husband, father & grandfather. Your Mom and Dad are together again, honor their memory & be kind to one another, remember the good times and the love they gave to all of you. My God Bless all of you and give you strength through this most difficult time.

Frazetta was my hero growing up, as an aspiring artist. As an adult, and a professional illustrator, he's pretty much the pinnacle for myself and a great many who dabble in and enjoy the Fantastic. My heart goes out to his children, who have lost two parents in such a short amount of time. Nothing can ever dim the fire of the The Frazetta Legacy, which will live forever in his blazing works.
