George Foden Obituary

George J. Foden, 91, died Saturday, June 6, at Wynwood House, Centre Hall. He was born April 22, 1918, in New York City, N.Y., the son of John and Grace Bates Foden. On July 14, 1945, he married Edith Benison who died July 11, 2005.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was an accountant, working as the Budget Director for Lederle Laboratories until retirement in 1973. He then drove a school bus for Pleasant Valley School District, Brodheadsville.

He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Brodheadsville, the Knights of Columbus, and was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the BPOE of Pearl River, N.J.

He is survived by his daughter, Judith M. Curley and her husband, Stephen, of State College; and grandchildren, Kevin and Allison Curley and their twins, Caroline and Nathaniel of Manchester, Md., and Gregory and Jennifer Curley of Huntingdon. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by an infant son, Michael, in 1954; and a brother, Joseph, in 1997.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton St., State College. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church in State College, with Father Mark Reed officiating. Burial will be at noon Thursday, June 11, at Gilbert Cemetery, Gilbert, with Monsignor William McCawley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wynwood House Residence Fund, 122 Wynwood Drive, Centre Hall, 16828 or to the American Lung Association of PA, 3002 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
