Born on Sept. 21, 1950, in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late James T. Gallagher Sr. and Nellie (Miller) Gallagher.
James was a loving family man throughout his lifetime. A resident of East Stroudsburg all of his life, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975. He most recently worked eight years for the Kulp Foundry of East Stroudsburg as an inspector. Prior to that, James worked for Dent Manufacturing Corp. in Northampton as a metal polisher and also for Pocono Metal Products Inc. in East Stroudsburg, where he was a metal polisher for 15 years.
He was a member of the Salvation Army of East Stroudsburg; a Little League coach in East Stroudsburg for 10 years and was a member of the Sky Lane's Bowling League of East Stroudsburg, where he enjoyed bowling very much. James enjoyed life through giving. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife Caroline at home, surviving are two sons, James S. Gallagher of East Stroudsburg and David Morton and his wife, Anne, of Stroudsburg; a daughter, Jamie Widdoss and her husband, William, of East Stroudsburg; two granddaughters, Stacey and Stephanie Widdoss, both of East Stroudsburg; two sisters, Judy Reinheimer and her husband, Ed, of East Stroudsburg, and Barbara Jean Gallagher of East Stroudsburg; and a brother, Franklin Gallagher, also of East Stroudsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Salvation Army, 226 Washington St., East Stroudsburg, with Major Mark Mackneer officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.
A visitation for family and friends will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army of East Stroudsburg, 226 Washington St., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301, or to Caroline Gallagher, c/o of Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
