Kenneth Hammerstone Obituary

Kenneth L. Hammerstone Sr., 67, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Patricia E. Williams Hammerstone.

Born on July 13, 1939, in Milford, N.J., he was the son of the late Walter Hammerstone and Ruth McPeek Dunlap.

He was a graduate of East Stroudsburg High School class of 1957.

He served in the United States Army Reserves for seven years and was employed by Cooper Power System in East Stroudsburg for 40 years.

He was of the Methodist faith and a member of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.

He was an avid bowler and a member of the Eagles Lodge of Stroudsburg.

Surviving are two daughters, Lori Jo Hertzler and her husband, Ed, of Selbyville, Del., and Michelle Hallett and her husband, David, of Rexville, N.Y.; three sons, Kenneth L. Hammerstone Jr. and his wife, Naomi, of Bartonsville, Craig Hammerstone and his wife, Wendy, of Long Pond and Kirk Hammerstone of East Stroudsburg; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Hammerstone of Marshalls Creek; three sisters, Gloria Miller of Reeders, Patricia Merkle and her husband, Dan, of Marshalls Creek and Nina Trice of Allentown; brothers and sisters-in-law Walter and Sharon Hoffner of East Stroudsburg and Bill and Edie Williams of East Stroudsburg; nine nieces and nephews; and his dog, Spot.

He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Preston Dunlap.

Family and friends are invited to a calling period from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. The Rev. Dr. Edward C. Kimes will officiate a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to V.N.A. Hospice of Monroe County Hospice House, 502 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301, or East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 87 South Courtland St., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
