Melva "May" Jarvis, 83, of Saylorsburg, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at home. She was the wife of the late Sherman Jarvis, who passed away in 1997.
Born in Ira, W.V., on March 7, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Fleet and Rebecca Jarvis Duffield.
May is survived by her six loving children: Phyllis Jarvis of Pen Argyl, Doris Brands and her husband, Richard, of Bangor, Velma Branham of Wind Gap, Wanda Bush of Wind Gap, Brenda Bender and her husband, Robert, of Wind Gap, and Dallas Jarvis of Saylorsburg; two sisters, Emma Jarvis of Sutton, W.V. and Ina Smith of Spencer, W.V.; four grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Roney S. Jarvis in 1992; and a daughter, Della Sue Jarvis in 1950.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, with the Rev. Larry Gasteiger officiating. Interment will be in the Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. Friday, until the time of services at the funeral home.
