Michael Strunk Obituary

Michael K. Strunk, 51, of East Stroudsburg, passed away Thursday, June 30, at Pocono Medical Center.

Michael was a lifelong resident of East Stroudsburg. He was employed for 26 years by Cooper Industries, East Stroudsburg, until the plant closed, working his way up from production to a management position.

He was fascinated by trains and was a knowledgeable collector of model trains.

Michael was known by family and friends to be an honest, hard working man, and a loyal employee. A man of strongly held principles, he was known to stick stubbornly to a decision once he had made it.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved daughter, Jessica Strunk of Sciota; brothers, Lewis Strunk of Lake Wallenpaupack, William Strunk and his wife, Irlene, of East Stroudsburg, Jeffrey Strunk and his wife, Jo Anne, of East Stroudsburg, and Jon Strunk and his wife, Ann, of Lake Ariel; sisters, Carol Hutson and her husband, Mark, of Marshalls Creek, Nancy Knott and her husband, Steve, of Portland, and Joanne Strunk-Walsh and her husband, Harry, of Marshalls Creek; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday, July 4, at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, Brodhead Avenue, East Stroudsburg. Msgr. John A. Bergamo will serve as celebrant. Cremation will take place after the services at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

A visitation for family and friends will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Monroe County American Cancer Society, RR 2 Box 2138, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Aunt Clare and all my Cousins, You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. I am sorry I could not be there, but I did not get the info in time. They say it gets easier with time, but I just take it one day. I'm sure Michael gave it as good a fight as my Monte did and now they are both with God and at Peace. And so should webe at peace. i hope to see all of you at the Reunion and we can share hugs and remembrances. Love, Bonnie

The Strunk Family, All of my love to you, Mike will always be part of my heart. There is a saying that Mike and I shared, and I will share it with you, "Don't cry because its over, Smile becaause it happened". Mike is certainly the Smile. God Bless all of you.
