Gena Cleland Obituary

Gena Ann Cleland, formally of Rome, GA, died suddenly on October 8th, 2022 at the age of 41 at her place of residence in Weston, FL. The family is deeply saddened by her unexpected passing. Gena was born on May 1st, 1981 and grew up in Cedartown, GA. She graduated from Cedartown High School and earned degrees from Georgia Highlands College and Shorter University.

Everyone who knew Gena knew how selfless and loving she was. Her smile and giggle lit up a room and her authentic self was clear to all, after even just a single meeting with her. Gena is survived by her daughter, Taylor Ann, her mother and step-father, Cathy and Bill Richardson, her sister and her partner, Michelle Hurst and Hank Ogden and her beloved shih-tzu, Zoey, as well as an abundance of family and friends. We will miss Gena Ann more than words can say.

A Celebration of Life is being held on November 19th in Rome, GA. Further details are still being planned at this time.

The family has asked for contributions in memory of Gena to be made to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation. The foundation was founded in 1987 and are the #1 non-governmental funder of mental health research grants. Their mission is to alleviate the suffering caused by mental illness through awarding grants to support research and significant scientific breakthroughs.
