Nancy Thomason Obituary
PONTOTOC - The Life Story of Nancy Ball Thomason
On September 12, 2025, at the age of 85, Nancy Ball Thomason passed peacefully with her family by her side at St. Vincent's Community Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida.
Nancy was born on July 25, 1940, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, to the late Raymond Ball and Audry Ball Reeder. Her childhood was rooted in faith and family, and from those humble beginnings, she built a life filled with love, devotion, and grace.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Winston; their children Don Thomason (Angie) of Chelsea, AL, Jeff Thomason (Melinda) of Jacksonville, FL, and Ginger Wheatley (Ross) of St. Johns, FL; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Sarah Ball of Pontotoc, MS; Kenneth Ball (Sue) of Pontotoc, MS; G.W. Ball (Linda) of Austin, TX; and Martin Ball of Pontotoc, MS.
Nancy's life was one of service and care. She played the piano at Harmony Baptist Church as a young girl. After High School she married Winston and they began their journey together in Memphis, TN. She worked at Sears, Roebuck & Co. before devoting herself to raising their three children.
Later, Nancy and Winston moved to Jacksonville, where she worked at the Credit Bureau. But her proudest role was as a wife, mother and grandmother. She never missed a game, recital, or parade, cheering her children with pride. Nancy and Winston retired in Sevierville, TN, building a mountain cabin with a breathtaking view. In 2017, they returned to Florida and built a peaceful home overlooking the water where she found joy in the wonders of nature.
Nancy especially loved gathering at holidays, with Winston by her side enjoying family and friends creating lasting memories.
One of Nancy and Winston's greatest joys was showing love to their family through the quilts they made together. Nancy had an eye for choosing just the right fabrics and colors, and Winston would carefully sew them and have them monogramed. Though Nancy didn't sew, Winston made sure she was always a part of the process. Each quilt became more than just a blanket-it was a piece of them, stitched together as a reminder of the love that held the family close.
Nancy will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her unshakeable faith, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Harmony Baptist Church, with Brother Mike Reeves officiating.
