Silvia Bryant Obituary

PONTOTOC – Sylvia Bramlitt Bryant, 93, passed away April 6, 2016, at the Church Street
Personal Care home in Ecru, Mississippi. She resided in the Endville Community until she became a resident of Church Street in January, 2014. She was born February 23, 1923, into a family of seven girls and seven boys to Marion Mack and Viney Wren Bramlitt of the New Harmony community. She is predeceased by her parents, her brothers, J. Q., R.V., Otis, Julius Wayne, Marion Mack Jr., Loy Gene and Billy; sisters, Opal, Lucille, Ercel, Lynda Fay, Minnie Marie and Mabel. She married Elbert Dowell ""Dowdy"" Bryant Sr., June 15, 1940; they were married almost 63 years until his death May 6, 2003. She was a member of Endville Baptist Church and faithfully served her Lord and Savior for many years in every place she lived until her health declined.
Her life's work was varied; she was a factory worker, retail clerk and merchant (she and her Dowdy ran the Endville Mercantile until their retirement) but her most important job to her was tending to her husband and the two sons born to this happy union. Her hobbies included sewing and quilting but she loved the outdoors and gardening was her favorite hobby. She grew a large variety of vegetables and fruits and cooked and/or canned vast quantities of them. She can now enjoy the fruits of her life's labor in a beautiful garden on the shores of heaven.
Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation for family and friends will be held today, April 8, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Bro. Don McCutchen and Dr. James Thomas Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Pontotoc Memorial Gardens next to her beloved Dowdy.
She is survived by her two sons, Daniel (Janet) of Starkville, Mississippi, Bert (Lisa) of Pontotoc, Mississippi; grandsons, Paul Bryant (Susan), Brandon, Mississippi, Jason Bryant (Kayla) Dorsey, Mississippi, Chris Chandler (Tonya), Tupelo, Mississippi and Clay Chandler, Jackson, Mississippi; and great-grandchildren, Sawyer Bryant, John Chandler and Kayla Chandler.
