Edith Judd Obituary

Edith L Judd, 93, of Englewood, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

The only daughter of Oscar & Edith Lorenson, Edie was born in Bristol, Connecticut. She and her twin brother, Ed, were the youngest children in a large and loving family that celebrated their Swedish heritage throughout their lives.

Edith met her beloved husband, the late Robert G. Judd, in high school, and the two were inseparable from then on. Following her graduation from Bates College with a degree in nursing, and Bob's graduation from the United States Naval Academy, they were married in 1955 and began their life together.

They lived a full and adventurous life; working hard, raising their family, traveling the world, taking the children & grandchildren on exciting and wonderful vacations, and truly blessing their family and friends with their generosity, love, humor, deep faith, and outward affection to each other and all who were blessed to know them. After Bob's passing in 2013, Edie continued to demonstrate all of these qualities and found new friendships and blessings as she continued to live a full and active life in Florida.

Edie (Ms Edie as she was affectionately known), worked as the School Nurse/Administrator for the North Kingstown School Department for over 25 years. She is fondly remembered by students and teachers alike for her compassionate yet no-nonsense approach to nursing, as well as her kindness to all.

Edith is survived by her children and their spouses; Janis Lee (Patrick) Sullivan of Charlotte, FL, Robert A. Judd of White Plains, MD, Steven R (Sharon) Judd of Marlborough, MA, Jerilyn J (David, deceased) Majeika of Nashville, TN, and Brian E (Barbara) Judd of White Plains, MD. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Brad Vallett, Heather Vallett, Hannah Faucher, Mikaela Judd, Katherine (Matt Wright) Judd, Alexander Judd, Jake Majeika & Jarod Majeika; and her great-grandchildren Lily (Corey) Shea, Eva Treat, and Grayson Vallett.

Edie is also survived by her twin brother, Edward (Laura) Lorenson, of Silver Spring, MD. The relationship between these two was nothing short of amazing. They not only shared a birthday, but they shared a bond of 93 years of friendship, love, affection, laughter, and family history that they passed down to generations. Their birthday came to be known as the High Holiday in the family, as we would gather each year to celebrate "the twins". This birthday was also shared with Edie's youngest son, Brian, and he was more than happy to join the festivities each year, celebrating "their" birthday.

Edie was pre-deceased by her brothers, Ralph (Joan), Fred (Carolyn), Art (Wilma), and Harold (Phoebe) Lorenson. She was also predeceased by her nephews, David Lorenson and James Lorenson. Edie is survived by many nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

So much can be said about this beautiful lady, but her family and friends will mostly remember the love. Edie made every holiday, birthday, and family celebration special. She always remembered to send a card, make a call, and let someone know she was thinking of them, and that they were special to her.

Edie lived a life of abiding faith. Even in the darkest of times, her beliefs kept her strong and gave her peace and serenity. Daily devotions and nightly prayers were a part of her everyday life, and she often ended her prayer with "Thank you, God, for my life and all of my blessings". Edie will be forever missed, but we are grateful for the blessings she gave us all.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, November 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Englewood Methodist Church, 700 E. Dearborn Street, Englewood, FL 34223.

Interment will be at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery at a later date, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Bob.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, Tunnels to Towers, or the Methodist Children's Home (c/o Englewood Methodist Church).
