Eleonore Czyz Obituary
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Dr. Phillip Czyz of Port Charlotte, and her brother, Willie Sehl of Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. She is survived by her son, Dr. Craig Czyz of Columbus, Ohio; her companion, Michael Wolf of Port Charlotte; and her beloved dog, Lucky.
In 1981, Eleonore founded the Charlotte Racquet Club, which became a vibrant hub for tennis and racquetball. She also co-founded Family Eyecare Center and Progressive Optical Designs with Dr. Czyz, providing quality vision care and one of the region's premier optical boutiques. A lifelong athlete, she remained an avid tennis player and was a Life Member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Known for her warmth, generosity, and love of entertaining, Eleonore touched countless lives and supported many philanthropic causes. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, businesswoman, and friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 15, 2025, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Charlotte Memorial, Punta Gorda. Donations may be made in her name to the ASPCA or an animal welfare charity of choice.
