Ernest "Ernie" Grenville passed away on January 31, 2023 at the age of 86, in his home in Florida. His battle with medical issues in his recent years never diminished his love of good conversation including sports and politics along with visits with family and friends.

Ernie was born to Elisa Grenville (Belisle) and Thomas Grenville in Niagara Falls, NY. Prior to his 32 years at Dunlop Tire Corporation as a Senior Manager of Distribution Centers, he graduated from LaSalle High School, attended Kent State University, University of Buffalo and was enlisted in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Carol (Davenport) Grenville September 7, 1963. They lived in the Western NY area for most of their married life where they were active in their churches in Wilson and Lockport celebrating their Christian faith.

Ernie is predeceased by 2 brothers Thomas & Dennis Grenville and sister Lorraine Welsh. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Carol, daughters Caryn (Bernard) Shanahan, Stacey (Gregory) Potempa; his beloved grandchildren Bridget (Steve) Kneeland, Kyle (Cal) Shanahan, Michael Potempa, Morgan (Ethan) Duryea and Marc Potempa; 2 great-grandchildren, his siblings Theodore Grenville (Malone, NY), Madeline Reece (Youngstown, NY), Sandra Grenville (Alleghany, NY) and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at the convenience of the family with internment at Glenwood Cemetery in Lockport, NY.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Family Church (Port Charlotte, FL), Salvation Army, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Sadly, I learned of Ernie's recent passing. I am thinking of you and your family and wishing you well. I believe you are living in Florida ? We are in California. I fondly recall Uncle Ernie piloting the boat on the Niagara river with Mr Davenport valiantly trying to teach us how to ski. Well...that was hopeless but we had great fun! Loved visiting you on Grand Island. My love to you Aunt Carol and your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I have only good memories of Uncle Ernie, as a gentle and kind man. He was loved by us all, especially by his big sister, my mother Lorraine. Ernie was a wonderful gentleman and a delight to talk to. He was so knowledgeable in so many subjects but the best conversation was when we talked about the Buffalo Bills.
