Jeffrey Glenn Mechlin

1952 - 2024

Jeffrey Glenn Mechlin, known affectionately as Jeff to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born on March 31, 1952, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, he was a beacon of kindness and joy throughout his 72 years.

Jeff's journey began in Pennsylvania, but his heart found its home in Punta Gorda, Florida, he passed under the care of Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a cherished son to the late Ivan Glenn Mechlin and his surviving mother, Elizabeth Mechlin.

In 1981, Jeff married the love of his life, Mary Kay Herbolsheimer Mechlin, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising their son Matthew, born in 1984, who would become the pride and joy of his life as well as his loving fiancé, Gwen Carver.

Jeff was a beloved brother to Steve (Mary) Mechlin, Richard (Wendy) Mechlin, and was predeceased by his brother David Mechlin. His life was enriched by the close kinship he shared with his special friend Betty Bauer, and he was a cherished uncle to several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends for Jeffrey will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 635 E. Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, Florida 33950, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM.
