Kathleen Littmann Obituary
Kathleen (Katie) Jeanne Littmann, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023, at her home in the presence of her family.
Katie was born on December 18, 1931, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She is predeceased by parents Lou and Thomas O'Keefe, and siblings Eileen O'Keefe, Jayne (Louis) Hubik, Betty Takala, Patricia Rauss, Bob (Lucille) O'Keefe, Brian (Roseann) O'Keefe, Donald (Mary) O'Keefe, husband Joseph Littmann, and son Gary Littmann. She is survived by sister-in-law Mary ((Don) O'Keefe.
Katie attended the Sacred Heart Academy in Grosse Pointe. While perhaps not the most dedicated student there, she did acquire a reputation fitting of her bright red hair. From stories told, Katie had a wonderful time.
On Valentine's Day, February 14, 1953, she settled down to married bliss with Joe and proceeded to have six children. Thanks to that wise decision, she is survived by children Tim Littmann, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Littmann, Susan Michaud, Connie (Gary) Littmann, Matt Littmann, and Pete (Angie) Littmann. Her investment also paid off in ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Katie and Joe lived in multiple places in Michigan and California through the years then started their retirement as snowbirds 25 years ago. They divided their time between Shelby Township, Michigan, and North Port, Florida. After Joe passed, Katie decided to make Harbor Cove in North Port her permanent home.
Katie obtained an associate degree in Applied Science from Oakland Community College with a focus on landscape architecture. She also became a master gardener through the Michigan State Extension program. She put those skills to good use as head of the beautification committee in Harbor Cove, as well as in creating beautiful outdoor spaces surrounding each of their homes.
Katie's other great delights included sports (especially baseball where she kept her own scorecards), needlepoint, playing (and beating others in) cards (a contact sport in her family), eating copious amounts of chocolate, waiting out category 5 hurricanes in a manufactured home ("I really love to watch a good storm roll in"), and loving everyone she met. Her huge smile, sparkling and mischievous blue eyes, and wicked sense of humor will be missed so very much.
