Alexandra Engler Obituary

BATON ROUGE, LA: Alexandra Engler, 42, died violently at her home on September 24, 2010.
She was born in Hamilton, Ohio and spent her early years in Upstate New York graduating from Unatego High School in Otego, NY. She attended SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Albany graduating from LSU.
She was attending Southern Medical studying for advancement in her ultrasound career.
She is survived by her daughter, Ariana Engle; she leaves Ariana's father, Johnny Adriani of Baton Rouge and Bridgeport, CT; her mother and step-father, Bonnie Hunt and Robert Maloney of Holderness, NH; and her beloved grandmother, Dorothy Engler of Port Clinton, OH.
She was predeceased by her father, William D. Engler in 1986.
Her daughter, Ariana, was the absolute love of her life. That love extended to her grandmother whom she adored and to her wonderful neighbor, Mary Kuntz. Her pride and joy was the little house on Beauregard St., which she was always improving inside and out. Her vocation was a combination of helping people and using her great artistic ability. She combined those qualities in her ultrasound work. Sensitive, bright and caring - a light has truly been extinguished far too early.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Pope Hall with services at 12:00 noon at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. An additional memorial service in New Hampshire will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Baton Rouge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a scholarship at St. Luke's School in Baton Rouge in memory of Alexandra or to the Circle Program in Plymouth, NH, a mentoring program for young girls.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I'm french. I'm not very good in english, but I met Ariana the summer 2010 in a camp where she was enrolled. I met his mother after. I'm not very good for prayers, but I'll try.
I think every day in Alexandra and Ariana. I pray every day, every second, every minute, may she rest in peace. I hope that Ariana will be happy and strong throughout his life. I pray that she has everything she needs all she will need during his life.

May you find peace knowing she was one of GODs ANGELS he called home. Our tears are of rejoice know she is in a better place and sitting at the RIGHT HAND of our LORD AND SAVIOUR. Smile when you think of her and all the love and joy she gave to sooo many others. I personally didn't know her, but GOD has a way of allowing the light in a person shine through even after they are gone from here. I still mourn my daddys passing, but thinking of him with JESUS I find myself.. smiling. The LORD will direct you in your time of need through all the hurt, angry and whatever emotional turmoil you endure. Go to HIM, there you shall have PEACE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL

My thoughts and prayers go out to Ali's family and precious daughter. I was a classmate of Ali's, and had a fabulous summer traveling Europe with her and US Collegiate Wind Band. She was a sweet and special person, and she will forever be missed.

Although I didn't know your family...deep sorrow is still felt for you. I will continue to keep Ariana and your family in my prayers. May God continue to strengthen you in the days and weeks to come. May God bless all of you.

Ali was one of my very first childhood friends, we lived across the street from each other, we grew up together. I have many fond memories of her and I am truly sorry for what has happened to her and Ariana. My heart aches for you, Bonnie. I know that you will find the strength to go on. Ariana will grow up to be a wonderful, caring, strong woman just like Ali was and she will have you to thank for that. I will always have a special place in my heart for Ali and will think of you and Ariana often.

September 29, 2010

My husband taught Arianna at Trinity, and we had the pleasure of meeting Alexandra when we went to First Glimpse for an ultrasound to find out the sex of our now 19 month old son. We are so so deeply sorry for the loss of such a beautiful and talented lady. May God bless you and your family, and protect and watch over Arianna every single day. Justice will be served, but never enough to equal the loss of your beautiful family. Praying for you always.

Sincerely,

Kevin, Farrah and Beau Schexnayder

Ariana, just know that you have a special Angel now and that is forever!
God speed in your recovery, physically and emotionally!

My memories of Ali are from elementary school........she was always quiet and sweet. Reading this guest book it sounds like she still was. The world needs more people like Ali. I HAD TO GO AWAY

I had to go away.
I'm sorry you couldn't come with me.
But on earth is where you shall stay.
Please do not be sad.
Instead laugh and be glad.
I'm in a beautiful place, such a beautiful place.
I know you wont see me for a while.
But you will hear from me.
I will be the wind that will chill you on a hot summer day.
I will be the sun that will warm you when it's cold.
Listen to the birds sing, I will be saying, "I love you" in their song.
I know you can't touch me.
But you will feel me.
Because I will be inside of you giving you life on the days you feel like you can't go on anymore.
Please I beg of you, go on, live your life as I lived mine.
Always remember we will be together again.
I will be patiently waiting for you on that day.
When you will join me in this beautiful place.
Until then may God bless you with his almighty grace.

Having been an acquaintance of Lexy's in high school- I knew that smile, that soft spoken voice, that student-athlete who would help anyone with anything. I'm deeply saddened and shocked to hear of this tragedy. Bonnie, Bob and Ariana- I pray for your strength to get you through this time; for your faith to know that Lexy is at peace- but after reading of her relationship with Ariana- I'm certain that as an angel she will always protect her little girl and surround her with her love and guidance. May God Bless you all; those of us who were fortunate enough to just be an acquaintance of hers will miss her too and are sad that such a beautiful soul was called home too soon.

My heart is hemorraghing with grief. The pain of Alexandra not being here to be with the absolute love of her life - her tiny tot Ariana - is overwhelming. Yes, there will be healing. Yes, we believe in the connection between our physical world and the spiritual world. Yes, Ariana is strong and will be a positive force as she moves past this. But also - i have to acknowledge the very real situation of this loss and the rawness of how overwhelmingly painful this is above what we can empathize. This mother and daughter had a closeness and singleness of purpose that was more concentrated than what most families experience. Prayer does matter - and prayer will be the wheels that moves Ariana and Alexandra's loved ones forward. And prayer is needed for Alexandra on a soul level - as I know there is much healing that she needs too on the Other Side as her heart truly shattered to leave her daugther. As Mothers - we have to pray for Alexandra whose journey as a Mother here on the Earth was something she treasured, and which has to continue in some other way. And we have to pray from the place of motherhood that only we can do - to touch the throne of God for the support and healing for Ariana on a spiritual level - whose tender heart will have a loss that can never be replaced. Angels of strength, peace, love, and connection for this dear child.

Love, prayers, compassion - and somehow hope, the promise of healing, the promise that we will remain connected and love ones will reunite in joy. Kim Sangari-Oktavec

I have known ally for yrs as a client freind and former neighbor.I am sad and extremly shocked that someone who had so much compassion for human life as she did was taken from us the way she was. I will definately miss her smile and infectious laugh she always made everyone feel so special. i will always remember how she made time for me with a cup of coffee and a good chat. She was a great person who made time for anyone who needed her and made her home one of the most beautiful that beauregard town ever saw. Its such a loss, and my little ari who i watched grow up playing in the yard she loved to play with my dog and swingon her swing set. She definately is a fighter and i pray she has a full recovery and know that her mother truly loved her more than anything! my prayers go out to ari and her grandmother i know this has to be the worst thing that could ever happen to a mother and you are in my thoughts and prayers. The world and Baton Rouge has truly lost a great human being! thanks al for always being a great freind i will miss you ! My thoughts and prayers are with allys mom and ariana may god watch over you

Ali was a wonderful, thoughtful, bright, caring, and beautiful person. I met Ali when she came to Port Clinton to visit her grandparents for the summer. I was 5 and she was 7. We would play barbies, eat Totino pizzas, look for lucky stones on the beach, and eat alot of her grandparents good-and-plenty candy. She will be greatly missed. I pray that Ariana makes a full recovery and that she will have the strength to deal with the loss of beloved mom.

Even thousands of miles away here in France, I am overwhelmed by the news of Alex's tragic death: it's the first thing I think about every morning, and my last thought before I go to sleep.

Alex was my stepson's partner for several years in the late 90s. They made a sweet couple, and Alex beautifully set up their apartment together.

Alex was very pretty, intense, funny and a great homemaker. She had a large heart, and I'm so glad that she had the chance to become a mother -- apparently a great one -- to her daughter.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ariana, and with and Alex's parents and grandmother. We want you to know that we grieve over Alex's life being snuffed out so soon, and we pray also for a happy, healthy future for Ariana.
