Eula Weaver Obituary

EULA M. WEAVER

Eula Mae Weaver, 94, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born February 10, 1921 in Siloam, KY, a daughter of the late Louis and Tenna Lycans Keene.

Eula married Paul M. Weaver Sr. on December 30, 1939 in Catlettsburg, KY, and he preceded her in death March 22, 1998.

She was a former member of the Shawnee Nature Club and a longtime member of the Portsmouth Garden Club. In 1985 she was chosen Amateur Gardener of the Year. In 1987, she was named Master Gardener of the State of Ohio. At one time she had a showplace garden with over 200 rosebushes, fountains, an herb garden and much more. Her family was tremendously proud of the statewide honor bestowed upon her.

Eula was also a member of the Sunrise Homemakers Club, and she was a former Brownie and Girl Scout Leader.

Surviving are her three daughters, Judy (Ben) Maraan of Cincinnati, and Jeri Hughes and Elaine Weaver-Cresie, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Juanita Boyd of Buena Vista, CO; her daughter-in-law, Debby Peebles Weaver of Leesburg, FL; 13 grandchildren, Ben Maraan II, Mike Maraan, Gary Maraan, Dan Maraan, Greg Maraan, Paul Weaver III, Christine Osuna, Angie Baker, Josh Hughes, Lindi Hughes-Waters, Tara Miller, Bryan Robinson and Leslie Fellers; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was so very proud of all of them. She also leaves behind Jack and Jill, her much loved companions.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eula was also preceded in death by her son, Paul M. Weaver II; brothers, Donald and Harold Keene; and sisters, Avanelle Webb and Loretta Keene.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Sunday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5 to 7 pm, and one hour prior to services Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eula's memory to Sierra's Haven for New and Used Pets, 80 Easter Dr., Portsmouth, OH 45662.

Mom, I love and miss you so much! I'm going to miss how you were always telling funny stories and making everyone laugh. You were one ornery lady! I know you're at peace now with Dad and Paul. I know they both welcomed you with open arms! You will be deeply missed by all of us. Love you!
