GREGORY LAHMI SAUNDERS
PORTSMOUTH - Gregory Lahmi Saunders,70, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at the OSU-Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. Greg was born in Portsmouth, July 7, 1945, a son of the late Russell Hayward and Eunice Washington Saunders. He was a 20 year employee of the N&S Railway Co. where he was a machinist, a member of the Pleasant Green Baptist Church, a 1963 graduate of P.H.S., a member of Trinity Masonic Lodge No. 9 and a former member of the board of P.I.D.C. Greg was also a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Gregory is survived by two daughters; Tonia Rae Saunders of Cleveland and Laverne Nicole Saunders of Dallas, GA; one sister, Andrea Camille Young of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Dick Saunders, Carl F. Saunders, Paul Saunders and Thomas S. Walton; and one sister, Carolyn Reynolds.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 AM. at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church with Rev. Clarence Parker officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. A Masonic service will begin at 10:30 AM. Arrangements are under the direction of the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth. Military graveside services will be conducted by the James Dickey Post 23 Honors Detail.

My condolences to the family and friends of Greg. Greg and I grew up together as we both lived on Union St and were close in age. He was one of my earliest friends and I knew his whole family. I will miss him dearly.
