PORTSMOUTH— Larry C. Piatt, age 81, of Portsmouth, Ohio passed away on January 17, 2024, at Portsmouth Health and
Rehab, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born September 27, 1942 to Henry Clinton Piatt and Mary Francis Suter, his grandmother
Fannie Piatt who assisted in his upbringing, who all precede him in death. He was also predeceased by
his sister Kay Kelly, a son Andy Piatt, and a daughter-in-law Dreama Piatt.
Larry was a lifelong Portsmouth resident and graduated from Portsmouth High School with the Class of
1960. He was active in his community, coached recreational baseball and football for West Portsmouth,
served on Portsmouth Notre Dame School Board and Athletic Association, and rarely missed a Sunday or
Tuesday calling out numbers at Notre Dame Bingo. Larry was very proud to have been inducted into the
Greater Southern Ohio Tri-State Sports Hall of Fame for softball. Larry always took an active interest in
his children's and grandchildren's lives. He loved to take them on drives to obscure places of interest, and
always had a good story to tell.
Larry was loved and will be greatly missed by his children, son C.J. (Kristin) Piatt, daughters Jodi Piatt, and
Laura (Bill) Piatt Holland, the mother of his children Sally Piatt, grandchildren, Bryant (Whitney)
McQuithy, Drew (Keri) Piatt, Mandi (Bobby) Barnett, Hayden (Bailey) D'Amico, Kayleigh (Seth) Holland,
and Mack Dyer. Larry was blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Logan, Sloan, Isaiah, T.J. and Evelyn.
A service will be held at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from the hours
of 12-2pm. I lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Andy Piatt Memorial
Scholarship at The Atomic Credit Union, or National Church Residences Hospice, Waverly, Ohio.
Larry's family would specifically like to thank nurse Jody Monteith and each member of his National
Church Residences Hospice Team for all of their compassionate care and support.
