Paul William Gilcher, age 89, resident of Montville Township, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014. He was born on December 3, 1924 to Howard and Thelma (nee Taylor) Gilcher. Paul was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, Submariner – Run Silent, Run Deep. He was a past Master of Masonic Lodge Lucasville # 465. Paul loved his family; he was avid golfer and enjoyed fishing. Paul and Geraldine (nee Fairchild) were married on April 5, 1946. He was a retired employee of Republic Steel as a Manager for 41 years.
Paul will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Geraldine, son, Richard (Valerie), daughter Barbara (Richard) Liberty, son-in-law "son" Michael Thoms, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother Richard (Lucille), sister Katherine Redding and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Cynthia Thoms.
Paul's cremains will be placed to rest on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Military Honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, Ohio 44270. (Please meet at the cemetery entrance 15 minutes prior). Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road (corner of River Styx and Rt. 18), Medina, Ohio were entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to the Tridia Hospice (Akron/Cleveland Region) 5000 Rockside Rd. Suite 150, Independence, Ohio 44131.
