I knew Allen as a freshman at Elmhurst College in 1954. He was one of the most energetic , brightest, and best person I have ever known. I shall always hold dear his bright smile and wonderful laughter.

My memory of Allen Smith was when I was a little girl and he came over to our house with my brother (Rev. Roger P. Felson) his roommate at Elmhurst College. He sat with me and let me recite nursery rhymes to him. Many years past and the next time I saw him was at my brother's funeral. He gave me a hug and flashed his wonderful smile and I felt like a little girl again. To family and friends let us hold on to all the memories of Allen and know he is still with us in our hearts.

This news comes with incredible sadness to me and my whole family. Allen was my father's roommate (Rev. Roger P. Felson) at Elmhurst College. My middle name is Allen, in recognition of their fine friendship. I always remember Allen as a very kind person, and appreciated his wonderful words at my father's memorial service. Prayers to all those who knew him and were touched by his service.

This hurts my heart. As my pastor at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church from its founding until he left, Reverend Smith formed the foundation of my spiritual life. He was such a great teaching preacher that I still remember his sermons and how to apply them to my life. He was also a personal family friend.
Rest in Paradise, Reverend Smith. You have done your calling and left us all better for it.

Always had a great spirit at First Church of Deliverance. He aways sat on the second row near the center isle. He will be missed. His kindness will live on in his friends and those he meet during his journey on earth.

Just wanted to offer condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Rev. Smith.
I've known Rev. Smith via his pastoral tenure at my home church of First Baptist in Gary, IN. While I always attended FBC years prior, it wasn't until Rev. Smith's tenure where my mom Cynthia Robinson and I became official members and it was Rev. Smith who actually baptized me back on December of 1991 when I just became a teen @ 13 years old. In fact, it was during my baptismal preparation where my family and I was won over by Rev. Smith. Rev. Smith was always the same wherever you saw him, in OR outside of the ministry. Rev. Smith was a genuinely good, personable person to all whom he's encountered. I also admired and appreciated the fact of Rev. Smith being a great mentor to my family friend and former FBC member Rev. Harold Jhirmack Eichelberger as he was starting his journey into the ministry and who's currently a minister in his own right in the ATL.
Rev. Smith will be dearly missed by all who he has touched and gotten to know during his time of doing God's work here on earth. May prayers continue to go out to Rev. Smith's family and friends while they mourn his loss.
