Asell Thomas

Thomas, Asell "Ace" Of Gary, IN, age 85, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2011 at the St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, IN. He was born to the late Elizer and Roberta Thomas on August 25, 1925 in Edwards, MS. Asell was married to the late Robbie Lee Thomas for over 52 blessed years. He leaves his loving and devoted children; Robert (Gloria) Thomas, Izolla (James) Ockletree, Leo (Ann) Thomas, Nadine Thomas and Asell Thomas, Jr; sister-in-law; Fredonia Thomas; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law; Earl Jr. and Eunice Griffin, uncle and aunt; Robert and Millie Moore, Lucy Finley, loving and devoted friend; Ernestine Wilder. A host of wonderful nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Asell was a member of the New Mt. Moriah M.B.C. under the leadership of Rev. L. J. Harris and Rev. W.N. Reed and he was a member of Laborer Union Local No. 81 for 60 years. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. with family hour from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Main Chapel at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408 (219) 980-5555. The Celebration of the Life of Asell Thomas will be at the Belmont Missionary Baptist Church in Utica, MS. Interment will follow at the Belmont Cemetery. Ace will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted family and dear friends. God Grant Him Eternal Rest.
