Bertha Gomez Obituary

Bertha Gomez passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8th, 2021 at Northlake Methodist Hospital in Gary, Indiana at the age of 58. She was born the youngest of 7 children to Jose and Aurelia Gomez on June 7, 1963 in Gary. Bertha loved reading and enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls. She was a valued and loved employee at Toys-R-Us in Merrillville for over 25 years, and Lincoln's Carry Out in Gary for over 19 years. Her smile and happy demeanor lit up the room, and her greatest love was the quality time spent with her family on holidays and special occasions.

Bertha is preceded in death by her beloved parents; and her loving brother and sister: Rosemary Russi and Larry Tinoco. She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters: Minerva (Isidro) Munoz of Houston, TX, Ascencion Gomez of Gary, IN, San Juana Gomez of Oak Grove, KY, and Margarita Gomez of Gary, IN; brother, Gerardo Gomez of Gary, IN; and brother-in-law, Henry Russi of Gary, IN. She will also be lovingly remembered by her special nephew: Richard Gomez, whom she raised as her own, and his wife Dana of Portage, IN, and "grandchildren" Richard D. Gomez and Rainarosa D. Gomez; her special niece: Regina Gomez of Lake Station, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and loving friends.

A private memorial service will be held for family.
