Carl Uno Broman Jr.

CARL UNO BROMAN JR. Dyer, Indiana Age 81 of Dyer, Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008 at St. James Manor in Crete, IL after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by his children, Robert Broman of Chesterton, IN, David (Mary) Broman of Dyer, IN, Lisa (Bill) Smith of Schererville, IN and Robin (Robert) Broman-Smith of Chicago, IL; loving children, Marcie, Karka, Elise, Carson, Sigrid, Jason and Kristen; one great granddaughter, Madison. Preceded in death by his mother, father, wife, son, John and grandson, Joshua. A memorial service will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 8955 Columbia Ave., Munster, IN on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Rogers officiating. Cremation will precede the service. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church. Interment to follow on church grounds. Carl was born on April 18, 1920 to Carl Uno and Gertrude Olivia Broman of Gary, IN, formerly of Sweden. Carl married Opal davies on October 8, 1955. Following meritorious service in the U.S. Air Force in World War II, he attended Purdue University earning a degree in mechanical engineering. He later worked for LTV Steel Corporation as a superintendent of environment control, retiring after 35 years of service. Carl loved reading, watching Purdue football games, golf, puzzles and enjoyed luncheons with his buddies every Tuesday. He was also proud of his Swedish heritage and was a proud Elder of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Munster. Donations may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Carl's loving memory. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
