Carrie Sonia Obituary

Sonia, Carrie Was born in Jennings, Louisiana on November 15, 1915 to Sally Perkins and Robert Allen. Carrie passed away on July 24, 2011. Carrie relocated to Gary, IN at an early age. Carrie served as a member of the Mission, the New Members Club at Calvary Institutional M.B.C and as the President of the Cleo Hobbs Circle. Carrie is preceded in death by her late husband Willie Sonia; two children that passed away shortly following their birth; father Robert Allen; mother Sally Perkins Allen; sister Alberta Harris; two brothers Emerson Allen Sr. and Coy Allen Sr.; a nephew Mitchell Allen, niece Joyce Allen; and good friends Herbert and Ledora Roach. Carrie is survived by cousin and godson Russell May (Helen) of Lake Charles, LA; a niece Joan Felix of Houston, TX; a nephew Emerson Allen (Sandra) of San Antonio, TX, a niece Lena Phillips (Dwight) of San Antonio, TX; a cousin Yvonne Everhart Davis (Jamie) of Jacksonville, AR; devoted friends Howard and Elsie Oliver of Gary, IN; Barabara Roach of Gary, IN a care provider and friend of many years Ethel Bowling, and her loving church family. Visitation Saturday, July 30, 2011, 10 a.m. immediately followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 2400 Virginia St. Interment Evergreen. Officiating Rev. John T. Talley II.
