So Charlie lived with Jim and I after his graduation. Jim was working two jobs which meant that most evenings he was working on the railroad. That left Charlie and I to spend our evenings together. We fell into a pattern that became the thing we did almost every night.
It started with dinner. That wasn't remarkable in and of itself but often this dinner was eaten in front of the TV watching Star Trek reruns. I have to say, to this day I am a serious Trekkie. After that we would adjourn to the kitchen again and set up the Monopoly board. We could make a game last for hours. The secreat was that when one of us was ahead we would accommodate the other just enough to keep the other person in the game. Not enough to let them get ahead, more like string them along. You should have heard the negotiating!
Those were good times! Without them I don't think I would have gotten to know Charlie as well as I did. We were a lot closer because of our evenings of Star Trek and Monopoly.

I was truly saddened by the news of Charlies' passing. I will always remember how funny he was and how he always had a joke for everything. He was a very funny, thoughtful and caring guy and will be missed greatly by many. Monty's will not be the same without you. Thoughts and prayers to his family at this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers follow you all in your time of sorrow.
Charles "Son" was always the light of the crowd and guaranteed to make you smile. On each visit he brought laughter and joy to us all and will be deeply missed by all his cousins "blood relatived" or not, as we would so often joke about. HIs laughter will forever ring throughout the hills and hollows here in Tennessee and everywhere our hearts shall go. To him we send a "group hug, you will be so deeply missed." We love you all!
