"Bud"
Charles L. "Bud" Cooksey, 67, of Benton, IL, died at 12:32 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL. Mr. Cooksey was born on September 13, 1942 in Johnston City, IL, the son of Troy Cooksey and Evelyn (Reed) Cooksey. He married the former Noreen (Simano) Byarlay on July 17, 1992 and she survives. Bud was a retired conductor for the EJ&E Railroad where he worked for over thirty years. He was an avid golfer. Surviving relatives include his wife, Noreen Cooksey, Benton, IL, three daughters, Ciara Cooksey and her husband Brian, Medaryville, IN, Peggy Tenorio and husband Gregg, Lake Station, IN, Janet Butala and husband Mark, Valparaiso, IN, four grandchildren, Amber Butala and special friend Brian, Valparaiso, IN, Tonya Butala and special friend Joe, Valparaiso, IN, Derek Tenorio and special friend Nicole, Hobart, IN, Megan Tenorio, Lake Station, IN, two brothers, Jim Cooksey and wife Donna, Benton, IL, Jerry Cooksey and wife Greta, Carbondale, IL, two sisters, Carol Reed and husband Ron, Marion, IL, Cathy Douglas and husband Pat, Bradenton, FL, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Cookie Lee. Mr. Cooksey was preceded in death by his parents, Troy (1982) and Evelyn (2006). His wishes were to be cremated. There will be no services per his request.
