Claudia Herbst Obituary

CLAUDIA L. HERBST Chesterton, Indiana Claudia L. Herbst, age 80, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte, IN. She was born July 6, 1927 in Liberty Township, IN, the daughter of the late John Olander and Lulu Moore Johnson. Claudia is survived by 3 children: Diana Herbst of Knox, IN, Patsy L. (Arthur) Hill of LaPorte, IN, Alton Jeffrey (Dana) Herbst of Chesterton, IN; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Edna Conners of CA, Annabelle Cole of Valparaiso, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Herbst in 1990; and sisters, Anna Henry, Hilda Chellberg, Madeline Johnson and Sylvia Poporad. Claudia was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in Chesterton, the W.E.L.C.A. of Bethlehem Church, and Esther Circle of the church. She was a volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels for 20 years, member of the Senior Citizens Group in Chesterton and member of Pythian Sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 6, 2007, 10:00 a.m. from Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1050-W 1100-N, Chesterton with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating. Burial Hanna Cemetery, Hanna, IN. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 5th from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton and on Monday, August 6th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Memorials may be given to Meals-On-Wheels, the Westchester Food Pantry or to W.E.L.C.A. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. For information, call 219-926-1309.
