To the family of Dr. Connie Horton words can not express the deep sorrow that I feel upon hearing of your great loss. Losing loved ones is never easy. To her loving daughter Tai, your beautiful mom was the sun where ever she was. Connie lived a rich, full and value creating life. She was indeed a woman of great substance and displayed a sense of mission and purpose. I know that your heart is aching but if you can find comfort in knowing that she has prepared you and all of us who have had the good fortune to be in her aura how to walk by faith and to forge the kind of life where we must not waste even a moment.

January 31, 2018

My sincerest condolences to the Horton family. I grew up with the Horton siblings at First AME Church. Being an only child, I always admired the love the siblings had for each other. I watched Connie and Carol stand firm in their faith throughout this test. Therefore, I cannot say that Connie lost her battle because she actually won as she is now in the presence of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

My prayers and hugs go out to Carol, Theresa, Tai and the entire family. Let your fun, fond memories bring you joy in the days to come. I pray that the Lord grant you peace, comfort and strength as only HE can.

I am here for you in any way that you need me. Love you all with the love of Christ.

May God bless you at this time of Dr. Connie Horton receiving her wings. Dr. Connie was such a lady of knowledge, integrity, and wisdom. By growing up with Carol, Theresa, and Connie, with my sister Miriam, we enjoyed countless years of joy, traveling, and learning with my mom Dollie Adamson. With Connie being the youngest, she would watch us and I personally enjoyed her beauty and quietness. As she grew up and became Dr. Connie Horton, I enjoyed our personal sessions of counsel. Up until her departure, she continued to offer me priceless advice which I will never forget. She was very strategic in being an Advisory Board Member and assisting in the opening of Heritage Institute of Arts and Technology known as HIAT today, the first charter school in Merrillville, IN. Her love and years of working as a Non Profit advisor and grant writer were greatly appreciated! As I say Good-by to Dr. Connie, I pray for Tai, her daughter who she loved so much, and Carol my lifetime friend who Connie watched over and ensured that Carol would be fine in life. Theresa whom we called TC and my sister Miriam were always a part of our sisterhood in our neighborhood where we all grew up. May God continue to comfort and be your peace at this time.
