My condolences to Emmett's family and friends. I know he was a great member of the Gary community, but he also was a fantastic member of the University of Colorado community and one of the greatest buffs ever! I saw him drain 36 points in one of his first games with the sweetest jump shot in the Big 8! He gave us so many great memories!

When I heard the Lord called you home cousin Emmett I thought I was dreaming. Although you are not physically here on earth your memories lives on. What I will remember most is your smile on your face everytime I saw you. Rest in Peace Cousin Emmett.

Condolences to the entire Lewis family and host of friends. I was so sorry to hear about his passing. I met Emmett early in life playing High School basketball in Gary. I knew he was a great basketball player playing against him and seeing him play. And then after finally meeting him he was even a greater person. He was a very caring and good man. He will always be missed and definitely remembered. May he rest in peace!

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the entire family of Emmett Lewis, my teammate, my brother and true friend. I will always cherish the moments of the 1974-75 Gary Emerson High School basketball season. We went from being unranked at the start of the season, to being the 5th ranked team in the state. We were the Northwest Conference Champions, The Gary Sectional Champions and The Gary Regional Champions. My favorite moment of all was in the regional finals. In the last seconds of the game, Emmett made the winning basket. This allowed the Golden Emerson Tornados to knock off Hammond High, the Number 1 ranked team in the state. This also enable us to earn a spot in the Lafayette Semi-State Tournament. That entire season was a lot of fun as the Gary Emerson Tornadoes were put on the map of athletic excellence.
To the family and friends of our dear teammate, we pray that God will provide you peace and heavenly comfort during this time of sorrow. To our departed teammate, brother and friend, may our Heavenly Father allow you to REST in PEACE.
