Herc there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about you! So sad to find out about your passing, Herc. I had just googled 'herc', and found this. I never new your real name, but I know that there was only one Herc. Back in the early 80's you used to hang out on Broadway in Gary/Merrillville IN and had many good friends. My close friend, Jim Cardenas, remembered you well when he tried creating a movie a couple of years ago about cruising Broadway back in the mid 80's. Jim passed away 2 years ago, but his movie script for 'One Bright Mile' was turned into a book by his sister Marie, titled 'One Bright Mile and Beyond'. You are in the story as yourself, 'Herc'. The book is available on Amazon. Your friends from way back in the 80's will enjoy
remembering you in the story. You and Jim are now likely cruising in Jim's car down that 'One Bright Mile' up in heaven.

I know this is sad but I just found out two days ago that you have been in heaven for a year now. I am very sad to have not had the knowledge to have been able to pay my respects to you and your family or even been able to see you before God took you to heaven. I am Sorry for this.We spent many many good times and even some bad back in the days96-98. We seperated and went our own ways. I have always wondered how you were and hoped you were good and to know that you aren't here any more makes me think life really isn't fair. I am sorry to hear about the loss of Eric, I didn't know him very well but after seeing his picture in the paper I realized that I met him after he did some work on my parents home. He was very nice and a hard worker. I would see him from time to time and he had a smile that could light up a room and a very nice personality. I meet Herc @ BB music factory in 1992! all thou, I havent seen him, Jazz or T in over 15 yrs, I feel a deep loss! It pains me deeply to know those sparkling eyes and brilliant smile have left this life! One thing I know to be true is that God works on you until you are perfect and then he calls you home to take your place beside him. I met Herc in high school when I ran some teen dances. He was always the funnyman-he tried to take my advertisement sign and made me chase him all around the lot for it! And yes, after that we became friends, he always watched my back-he was good for that. He had the best smile ever!! Me and my family love him! I have known Eric since he was a young boy. We used to live over in the 49th Avenue neighborhood. We had a candy store in our home and Eric would come over to get candy and snacks. He was a very caring person. He also worked with us doing construction work for years. In fact, he was still helping us whenever he didn't have roofing work to do or sometimes after he had completed his roofing work for the day he would come help us. If we needed help, he would try to be there. Even though we weren't related he callled my husband (Rick) his uncle and our children his cousins. If he knew you, you soon became family to him. He loved his Mother very much. We will miss him. I pray that God will comfort all his family and friends during this time.

Wow!!!! What can one say at a time like this. I am still very blown away from the news. I first met Herc @ Bin Willies. From there we hit it off. Both of us loving dancing. I would see him everywhere and he was always keeping an eye on me. Everyone that knows him--knows what I mean. Then one day he walks in to where I work and I was sad. (very sad)!!!! Herc--Eric had cancer. He was so happy to see me in his time of need. He had a friend to help him through his worst time in life. I will never forget the bond that was shared. And yes, I got to meet and talk to his mom several times. What a wonderful woman. When he was cured and he could start to go back out and have fun dancing--He would tell people (hey that is my nurse she takes care of me). It was one of the best moments in my life to help someone of his nature. He was always helping others. Herc had a fear of the needles with his treatment and together we got over it.
Herc, I will miss you!!!! And the world just lost another great heart and smile. I still can not believe I will never run into you anyone and see that great loving smile. All my love goes to your family and especially to your mom. May you rest in peace and save me a dance for when it is my time to go.
