Dick and Jean, may God bless you during this period of sorrow. Although, I have not seen Aunt Etta since I was a teenager, my thoughts are often concerning my family.

Jean, may God continue to bless you and your family during this time of sorrow. When I saw your number come up on the phone Sunday June 6th I felt it was bad news and it was.
I met Mama Carter (as Pete affectionly called her) in April 2004 with Pete in Gary while we were visiting, what a blessing.
She and you would often call Arizona and check on Pete and even though he couldnt speak well enough for you to understand, the smile on his face expressed it all, THANK YOU!
But what a way to go, praising and worshipping God and being there in Heaven later that day, Hallueah!!!
Mama Carter and the calls will truly be missed.
Love you all

Jean, I am so sorry I was unable to attend Ms. Etta's funeral. I had good intentions, but due to my husbands' illness I could not make it and took him to our doctor. Your mother was so very sweet and had such a gentle manner about her. Her smile was unforgetable...she was a joy to have known. May God keep you and your family at this most difficult time and remember you had a joyful time at church with her prior to her death. That is something to let you know God was in the plan even then. She is in a better place now, out of all of her pains. You made wonderful memories with your mother. It seemed you were more like sisters than mom/daughter! I will keep you in my prayers. Keep on, keeping on because she would want that for you.

I shall miss your delightful smile, and kissing your cheek on Sundays!
May the family find rest in knowing that she simply gave up the ghost to go home and be with Jesus!

Jean, may God bless you and your family during this time of sorrow. Miss Etta was a great, sweet, strong lady who loved life. What a blessing to live to be 94! I know your pain because I have recently traveled this same road, but God will ease your pain! I will continue to pray for you and your family. Love, Sylvia Smith
