Darryl, Debbie and Family:
No teacher in my life ever expected more, cared more or gave more than the one we lovingly referred to simply as Madame. To this day I consider Madame as one of the most influential people in my life. Her example in setting standards and life goals went beyond just teaching French, but helped prepare us for the real world.
I also experienced Madame's influence in her children as I had the oppotunity to work with Darryl (and Bernadine) at RTP. Darryl exhibited many of the characteristics we found in Madame.
I know you will miss her as we all will, but as you see from the many postings, Madame has left a foot print and a legacy that streches far and wide across this country. A part of her will always live in the many hearts and lives that she touched.
May God Bless and Comfort your family at this time.

To the McCullough family:
Madame McCullough was one of my very favorite teachers at West Side High School. At this point in my life, I really know how special she was. She was passionate about teaching young people the subjects that she loved. Since I had her for French for many years, that's what I know she loved and shared with many.
I know too that she inspired many young people to "aim high" and reach for goals that they may have felt were unattainable.
Since I no longer live in Gary, I am so very glad that I saw her in September 2004 when she attended the surprise birthday party that I gave for my mother. Madame McCullough even established a special connection with my son, then a college freshman, who was in fact studying French as well.
At any rate, I write this message because I want to convey the special connection that I felt for Madame that survived all of these years.
I send my condolences to the family. Although you will miss her, you were blessed to have had her in your lives.
Take care, and God Bless!
Sincerely,
Pier C. Rogers, Ph.D.

Dear Debbie, Darryl and family.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful mother with so many. Even as I write these notes it is dificult to hold back the tears.
I was one of Madame's boys as your father called us. It is a title that I will always cherish. She was my greatest encourager. SHe was always happy to hear from me and actually made a couple of trips to La Porte to visit. Last fall we had lunch together and she told me that she was proud of me and my brother Luis. It meant a lot to us that we measured up to Madame's standard.
There is not enough space to give her all the honor that she deserves. I will miss her very much but I like many others will carry her in our hearts forever.
Bless you as you mourn the loss of your wonderful mother. And I am sure that the Lord welcomed her home with these words " Welcome home thy good and faithful servant".

To Dr. McCullough and the entire family: I am deeply sorry about the passing of your mom. My mom passed on the same day as yours, and today I am just like you, preparing for what will be one of the hardest days of my life (saying goodbye to my mom). Although I know it isn't really goodbye for we will see them again, the time in between will be difficult at times. My heart goes out to you and your family for I know how you are feeling. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, and please keep the Dickerson family in yours. May God be with all of us on this day and always.

Having shared many days/years professionally with Mrs. F.W. McCullough I gained insight into the life of a dedicated person with values, that were passed on to those who came in contact, if for only a moment. Values worthy of being "contagious" thou not infectous. May many blessing flow abundantly as she lived and would desire perpetually.
It was a pleasure to have had "Bro.Mac" also along the Journey Professionally and Fraternally.
May there be eternal peace and rest for your labors in all fields of endeavor. Your gifts to life has made many differences for the improvement of mankind.

Breathing a lesson unheard,
Hope with a gentle persuasion
Whispers her comforting word:
Wait till the darkness is over,
Wait till the tempest is done,
Hope for the sunshine tomorrow,
After the shower is gone.

My sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Frankie Wood McCullough. May peace be with her. The Roosevelt High School class of 1958 referred to them as "Big Mac" (Mr. Emmett McCullough)who taught us Biology and "Little Mac" (Mrs. Frankie McCullough) who taught us Speech. In size they were direct opposites but one of the things they had in common was their love of teaching and seeing us thrive. They were strict but fair; perfect role models for teachers and married couples. We were fortunate to have known them in their prime.
