Portage, Indiana
Gerald Vrancks, age 68, of Portage, IN passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso, Indiana. Gerald was a Portage resident since 1965 and was a retired Heating and Air Conditioning worker of 37 years with Bethlehem steel in Portage, Indiana. Gerald married Kathryn Nickel on August 22, 1959 and spent 50 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (nee Nickel) Vrancks of Portage IN; 2 sons, Michael (Ella) Vrancks of Portage IN, Gerry (Linda) Vrancks of Valparaiso IN; 1 daughter, Sue (Larry) Hakes of Portage IN; 9 grandchildren; Hope Buchanan, Courtney (Kevin) Braun, Rachael Browning, Christina (Dominic) Padlo, James (Deanna) Vrancks- Schwei, Ashley Vrancks, Michael Vrancks, Danielle and Austin Hakes; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, William Tobolski of Elkhart IN; 1 sister, Sandra (Spencer) Terrell South Bend IN. Mother-in-law, Norma Deardorff Mishawaka IN, and other loving family members. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Shirley (nee Colwell) Vranckx and stepfather, Casimir Tobolski.
