GERTRUDE M. COGGINS Of Valparaiso / Gary (Glen Park) Gertrude M. Coggins, age 81, of Valparaiso, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the Horton Hospice Center. She was born in Scranton, PA, on April 9, 1922, daughter of the late William and Helen (Chamberlain) Shields. A 23 year resident of Valparaiso, formerly of the Glen Park area of Gary, IN. Former member of St. Mark Catholic Church, Glen Park, Gary. Member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Valparaiso. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Ken-neth) Steel of Valparaiso; 2 sons, William (Kim) Coggins of Pendleton, IN, Michael Coggins of Valparaiso; also survived by 5 grandchildren, William (Kari) Coggins, Kelly (James) Colwell, Aileen Coggins, James E. Coggins II, and Brett Steel. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Coggins, son, James Edward Jr., and 1 sister, Grace Spalluto. Funeral services Wednesday, July 23, 2003, from Dykes Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. for 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Street, Valparaiso, IN. Rev. Robert T. Naglich, SCJ, officiating. Burial Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.
