Gregory N. Strom, age 82, a longtime resident of Hobart passed away February 9, 2010. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen R. Strom; grandson, Michael Strom; and parents, Leatha and Harry Strom. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth; daughter, Betsy of Valparaiso; sons, Timothy (Darlene) Strom of Portage and David (Sandra) Strom of League City, Texas; granddaughters, Angela (Craig) Brooker of Romeoville, IL; Jamie (Brian) Thompson of Fort Wayne; grandson, Joshua (Christi) Strom of Valparaiso; granddaughter, Josleyn (Tim) Stewart of Lake Station; and grandson, Christopher of Portage. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Cole, Jake and Gage Brooker, Noah, Isaac and Isabelle Strom and Hannah Thompson; and sister-in-law, Janet (Donald) Larson of Shorewood, IL. Greg was employed as an armature winder in the Electric Shop of USX for 47 1/2 years, retiring in 1995. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 12, 2010, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at First Church, 10th and Wisconsin St., Hobart, with visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Rev. John Barley and Rev. Jonathan Barley officiating. Services will terminate at the church. Private interment at Calumet Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the First Church Building Fund will be appreciated. www.burnsfuneral.com.
