John Anderson Obituary

JOHN W. ANDERSON "Bill" Hobart, Indiana Age 81, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2006. He was a lifetime Hobart resident and a longtime member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Hobart. Bill retired from U.S. Steel and R.W. Armstrong where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. He was formerly a member of the Hobart Jaycees, Hobart Chamber of Commerce, the American Powerboaters Association, and the Masonic Lodge. Bill was a die hard Hobart Brickie fan. He also played the clarinet and enjoyed the concerts at the Revelli Band Shell in Hobart. Bill loved his fishing trips to Canada and especially spending time with his grandchildren and family. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mildred Anderson, and his loving wife, Marjorie D. (nee Larson). He is survived by one son, Ron (Kathy) Anderson of Hobart; three daughters: Patricia (Jeff) Hill of Schererville, Barbara J. (Rick) Bowman of Valparaiso, Sherri L. (Jeff) Coons of Chesterton; eight grandchildren: Keith (Tracy) Anderson, Carrie (Rob) Rongers, Bryan (Niky) Kelly, Michael Kelly, Alan and Amy Bowman, Kaitlin and Chelsea Coons; five great grandchildren: Jacob and Tyler Anderson, Madelyn and Kaylee Rongers, and Bryan Kelly, Jr. Memorial contributions are preferred to the American Heart Association or the Hobart Lake Front Development (HIEDC). Funeral services are Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, with Rev. Jonathan P. Gosser officiating. Burial will be private at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Visitation is Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
