DALE LEACOCK Obituary

DALE LEACOCK Dale passed peacefully from this life to his eternal life in Heaven, February 6, 2016. Dale was born July 24, 1941 in Houston, Texas where he lived for 50 years. Houston would always be home, the city where he was one of the fashion leaders. His career in ladies fashion began by managing his Aunt Isabell Gerhart's three fashion stores. In 1978 he opened his own store on Post Oak Blvd, L'Elite. For the next 21 years he dressed many of Houston's most fashionable ladies. He loved and cherished this time in his life. Dale closed his beautiful store in 1999 and began a career in real estate. In 2001 he moved to the Texas Hill Country, another exciting chapter in his life. Always ready for a new adventure, he moved to Santa Fe in 2014. He embraced the beauty and rich culture of his new home in New Mexico. Dale is survived by his loving partner of 38 years, Barry Hargrove. Dale and Barry were legally married in January 2015. Also surviving him are several cousins, lifelong friend Lester Bacarisse, and a host of beautiful friends. Dale will always be remembered for his charm and amazingly quick wit. He was like a magnet in the room, drawing laughs and fun into all situations. Dale will be buried in Houston next to his beloved mother and father, Gladys Akin Leacock Sublett and Alexis Dale Leacock, Sr. A celebration of Dale's beautiful life will be held in Santa Fe this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dale's memory may be made to the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico, PO Box 5038, Santa Fe, NM 87502. Dale cared deeply for the mission and focus of the Foundation.
