JOSE DOLORES VALTIERRA, SR.
"Lolo"
Gary, Indiana
Jose Dolores "Lolo" Valtierra, Sr., age 88, of Gary, IN, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010. Jose was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to David and Maria del Refugio Valtierra. Jose moved to Gary in 1956 and was employed at E. J. & E. He was a K. of C. 4th degree Knight, a parishioner and active volunteer at SS. Monica and Luke, and St. Mark Catholic Church in Gary, IN. Jose was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to the community. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leon Valtierra, and son Rev. J. Antonio Valtierra, and his beloved dog Suzie. Jose is survived by his loving wife Josephine and sister Margarita (Roberto) Valdez; daughters: Maria Valtierra, Margarita Valtierra and Josephine (Chris) Mares; sons: Felipe (Barb), Mario (Beth), Jose Dolores, Jr., Jose Guadalupe (Teresa), David (Olga), Martin (Tami), and Miguel (Laura); numerous grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins will continue his legacy. Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Mark Church, 505 W. Ridge Road, Gary (Glen Park). Jose will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. (time of service). Father Pat Gaza officiating. Prayer Service Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.

Vamos para un ano de no verte pero siempre te tendremos en el corazon. Todavia espero verte en casa cuando llego y oir "como les haido?" Me conforto saber que estas descasando y hamas sufriendo. Toda villa te extrano pero estas en un lugar mejor cuidandonos y pidiendo por nosostros. Pido a dios que me ayude ser un esposo y padre como tu lo eres a nosotros. Siempre estaras en mis pensamientos y se que me guiaras siempre. Gracias por darme tanto para ser un buen hombre. Sigue bendiciendonos. Dale un abraso a Tony y a toda la familia y sigue celebrando la vida eterna.

Daddy,
Today we laid you to rest and already I miss you so much. I know that you are always with us in our hearts and we have all the wonderful memories of you that are left behind. Thank you for being the best dad in the world. You raised us all with a strong, firm, but loving hand, and it helped us to grow-up to be who we are today. You will be greatly missed by everyone.
